Homecoming Backdrops in Spokane: What to Book, and When

If you are on a homecoming committee in Spokane, Mead, Central Valley, Cheney or Coeur d'Alene, you are probably three weeks out right now and the decor is still a group chat. This is the honest version of what to do about it.

Only two things get photographed

We have built homecoming decor for two decades and the pattern never changes. Out of an entire decorated gym, students photograph exactly two things:

• The entrance — the moment they walk in, usually with their date
• The photo wall — wherever the good background is

Everything else is atmosphere. It matters in the room and it disappears the second the night is over. So if your budget is tight, spend it on those two and stop worrying about the rest. We would rather tell you that than sell you a ceiling nobody looks up at.

What it costs

• Photo backdrop or entrance arch — from $200
• Entrance plus photo wall — from $400
• Full gym transformation — from $1,000, quoted after we see the space

Those numbers include install and strike. Your committee does not stay late taking it down.

The deadline nobody mentions

Every school in the region holds homecoming inside the same three-week window in late September and early October. That means the decor vendors in this city are all busy on the same four Saturdays.

Two to three weeks out is comfortable. One week out and we are honestly telling some schools no. If your dance is in late September, this week is the week.

School colors, exactly

Standard balloon colors are close to school colors and students notice the difference immediately. We color-match, and we print custom decals in-house — class years, mascots, the theme name in the actual lettering you designed. That is the part that makes a gym stop looking like a gym.

The gym problem

Gyms are hard. High ceilings, terrible lighting, and a floor you cannot damage. Balloon installations solve all three: they bring the ceiling height down to human scale, they photograph well under bad light because they carry their own color, and they anchor without touching the floor finish.
